About Us

Steve and Don have been friends for over a decade, with a passion for cars, hot rods, customs, and street machines in particular. They first met while working together at a major tire store in Atlanta, where on weekends they would go to many local car shows and cruise nights.

At the 1991 Atlanta Super Chevy Show Steve and Don bought a car together – a 1964 Impala. Their intention was to just do a quick paint job on it and sell it for some extra cash. Steve wanted to finish up his 1957 Bel-Air that he’s had since high school, and Don wanted to put the money towards a 1967 Chevelle Super Sport.

Instead what happened was a turning point for both - Steve sold his share of the car so that Don could again have a car to drive to cruises. Steve continued to help Don fix it up and what happened was a two year restoration and a very close friendship.

Most nights were spent talking about cars and past experiences - what they liked and disliked and various ideas. Many nights turned into talking about the possibilities of someday having their own business. It was always something to do with cars but they were never quite sure exactly what it could be.

Move ahead several years to the Woodward Dream Cruise outside of Detroit, a yearly pilgrimage for Don and Steve where they go to take in the thousands of rods and muscle cars that show up from across the country. They love this event because of the many cars that show up, some days before the actual event takes place, and there are lots of automotive venues, memorabilia, and vendors to take in.

While at Woodward browsing through the vendors that day, Steve and his brother went ahead while Don stopped to buy some T-shirts. As Don was walking down the street to catch up, he heard a knock on the window – Steve and his brother were inside the Ucoat-It headquarters admiring the floor, garage equipment, and shelving. It turns out they did not have a distributor in Georgia, and Don and Steve said that might be something to think about.

And think about it they did. After a couple years went by Don noticed the Ucoat-It Banner at the World of Wheels Car Show in February 2006. While talking to the representative, he found out that they still did not have anyone in Georgia. Don called Steve later that day and said “what do you think”?

Steve said let’s look into it and six months later they were in business with their first product line and they’ve been adding lines ever since. They now offer a complete garage makeover for every homeowner who wants to take back that unused real estate in their garage, the one that gets used as a catch all instead of a usable show piece, to make a garage that compliments the rest of the home.

While Don and Steve still lean towards the hot rodder’s garage with lots of automotive repair equipment, old automotive signs, posters and pictures adorning the walls, they can also help you in getting that clutter off your floor and organized into a safe, clean place where you would be happy to have your kids play or where you could even entertain.

Whatever your need, small or large, do-it-yourself or have it done for you - Don and Steve look forward to working with you and helping you turning your garage into an area you can be proud of.

P.S. Please buy lots so Don and Steve and finish their garages!
